I think an important part of teaching involves reflecting - reflecting on lessons that worked or didn't work, teaching advice and strategies, and things that you need to work on or have accomplished.

In reflecting on my teaching, what I find works best for my students is to involve hands-on activities.  I truly believe that students learn through doing, and I try to incorporate as many activities that involve more inquiry than lecture as much as possible.

Another piece of advice that I take to heart is to always keep my consequences consistent.  That may seem obvious in theory, but in practice it is not always followed.  Whether it be the best student or the biggest troublemaker, by keeping your consequences consistent you convey the message that no one is more or less important than another in the class.
